Term 4 goals

This term my goal is to be focused in class and get my work done. I also want to improve my time management because i don't always  get my work done on time. I want to get my silver badge as I am one signature away. My last goal is to participate in everything.

I am also going to Nuemere with Mrs Shaw and I cant to go there.

Term 3 Week 4

This week in tech arts we learnt about rock music and its history after we learnt how to play hound dog by Elvis Presley on the drums and guitar. I also learnt how to play London bridge and twinkle twinkle little star.

 On Wednesday me and other students went to Hamilton to the Waikato gym festival. I went as a reporter and photographer. We had an awesome day and lots of people got an overall placing.

This term we have speeches and on Thursday and Wednesday some people did theirs in front of the class on Monday next week I will  do share mine to the class. My speech is on animal testing because i feel very strongly about this topic.

Term 3 week 3

This week in tech arts we wrote our own blues song I did it with Sophie and Sophie and we wrote our song the clumsy blues. On Friday we learnt about advertising and we starting to creating our tune for our own advertisement on garage band.

this week we also took part in a first aid course on Wednesday where we learnt how to bandage an injury and also how to do CPR and  mouth to mouth we got into pairs to practice bandaging each other and putting them in a recovery position.

Term 3 Week 2

this week in tech arts we learnt about Bob Marley and reggae music. during this we learnt three little birds on the guitar, keyboard and drums. We also started to learn about blues music and we learnt how to write a song and next week we will actually be writing our own song in small groups. In maths we revised on what we got wrong i the test and i learnt how to convert cubic measure. On Thursday this week we had the college expo where teachers from TA college come to give us a taste of what we can do for our options if we go to that school. For me I am still deciding what college iI should go to the options I have are TA college and Cambridge High.

Term 2 Week 1

At the end of last term i decided I would like to be part of our school production and this week we started practicing for it by reading through the script and then learning the first two songs then on Sunday we came back to school for two hours and learnt the whole first scene of the play. I am  school girl in the play.

My goals for term two are two achieve my silver badge and be involved in lots of activities. My maths goal is to challenge my self to do the harder work. My reading goal is to read more books throughout the term and my writing goal is to improve my time management skills.

This week we have learnt lots in science this week we made soap we added colour and fragrance to the melted soap and mixed different layers of colour into each other. this week we also learnt about solids liquids and gases and what is required to change their state.

Term 1 Reflection

This term I have learnt lots of skills and knowledge especially in maths. I have tried to step outside my comfort zone and push myself further in my learning and other areas. I am getting closer to achieving my goals.

I have already signed up for the school trip to Noumea and entered my self in the tough guy and gal challenge and I plan to enter myself in many more activities like the EPro8 challenge and Ag day.

I have also learnt many things from the tech teachers during our tech sessions. I've learnt how to make a jersey, how to draw science diagrams properly.

Term 1 Week 8 & 9 Class Camp

In Week 8 we started doing science for tech arts we learnt how to display a science diagram you only draw from one perspective, all labels must touch the materials. Things like that had to be checked when it was marked.

In Week 9 our class went on camp to wellington we visited many amazing places like Weta Workshops where they work on special effects and costumes for movies like The Hobbit and the Avengers. We also went to the Space Place, Parliament, ONTV studio and media lab at Capital E, Zealandia bird sanctuary, Wellington Zoo, We visited a museum about the Wahine Disaster, We went snorkeling and we also went to the Holocaust Center.

At the Holocaust Center one of the people talking to us had been a Jewish child in the holocaust and had managed to make it to New Zealand she told us her story and what it was like for her. I found out that the Germans gave the Jews labels and made the children go to a school for Jewish kids only. I also found out that one school who had visited the holocaust center afterwards collected one point five million buttons in remembrance of the one point five million children who died during the holocaust.

At Capital E we were split into two groups. I went to the media lab first in their we were shown and taught how to create our own apps. Sam our instructor showed us how to make a app and we were to copy the app. the first one we made was simple. There is picture of cat and when you tap it, it meows then you also make the phone vibrate as if the cat is purring. The  second app was a magic eight ball app so when you shake the device and ask it a question a answer would come up. when we coded this we got to make up a list of answers and then the computer would pick a random one. That took up have the day then we went into the ONTV studio at Capital E in there we learnt and created our own mini movie called once upon a crime. I was floor manager that meant the director told me to cue the presenters in our story then i would tell the presenter to be ready and looking at the camera. I liked Capital E and I also learnt alot on hoe to make apps and also how to make a mini movie.

Zealandia is a bird sanctuary in Wellington when we arrived had a game where we had to match the Maori and English names for birds with the correct photo.We scored eight out of ten. Then we went into their display room and watched a video about what humans have done in the past that have ended up in some species extinct they also showed us their plan that they think and hope Zealandia will be in about five hundred years. I learnt that mammals didn't originally live in New Zealand and all the mammals in New Zealand were brought by humans from other country's.

 On one of the last days in Wellington we went to Wellington Zoo there we saw lots of animals even some from Australia. I got to pat emu and it even walked down the hill with us. When we went past the meerkats they weren't out except for one that was there look out. We had a learning session with one of the people there and she let us touch a blue tongue skink. We also learnt what adaptation is it means that an animal has a certain ability or part of their body that helps them adapt to their environment.






We also went to Parliament and while we were waiting for our guide Andrew Little showed up and had a talk with us. When we went inside Parliament we were taken into a mini debating chamber and we learnt the what people do for certain jobs.  

Term 1 Week 6 & 7

This week we started reading of a website for our class reading time most of the reading that we have read have been about the holocaust as later on after camp we will be doing a report on the events that happened during the holocaust. I have learnt that the Germans thought that they were superior to other races and wanted to kill all the Jews to make their country racially superior.

In maths we revised on powers and index numbers also we revised BEDMAS we also learnt standard form where you can turn a very long number wit lots of zeros into a smaller number for example:

first you start with the number 7684000

then you move the decimal point so that there is one hole number to the left of the decimal point
                                     7.684000
Next you count how many places the decimal point has moved to get to its place. So in this case it would be six so the number would end up being  7.684 x 10 to the power of 6 if it is
        0007684 it would be 7.684 x 10 to the power of -4

                               

Term 1 Week 5

This week in maths I learnt how to use a prime triangle. A prime triangle is in the shape of a triangle It is from one to two then the next line is one to three in between the numbers is all the numbers in between but they are not in order the order that they are in means that any two numbers next to each other should add up to a prime number for example :

This Thursday my mum left for Australia because on Friday my big sister was having her little baby boy Oliver. I wish I could be there but I've seen many photos.


On Thursday I ad another exciting moment for me On Thursdays I have ballet but on this particular day it was the day that me and the rest of my ballet class got our pointe shoes fitted.my shoes had to be ordered so I can't wait  till next week when I hope fully get my shoes.   

Term 1 Week 4

This week I did some maths on estimation because in the test I got some of the questions wrong I did some things on just rounding and some significant figures. I also rounded then divided or multiplied in a couple of the questions I made some dumb mistakes like reading the question out of the book of not rounding the number nine to the number ten.

In tech arts we cut out our jerseys. We started to sew our design on if we had one and if we didn't have a design then we sewed our shoulder seams. On Tuesday I cut out my jersey and design and started to sew my design on on the front of my jersey I have the letter b and on the back I have a cat face and also a paw print. My jersey has a neon lime green back and front. My hood, pocket and sleeves are all ombre and my pattern is black because it shows up a lot better on the light color of my jersey. I learnt that when you sew a pattern onto something you do zigzag but you have to go backward were normally with zigzag you don't go backwards.

This week we started a new writing task our task is to wright an explanation on one of the seven wonders of either the Medieval word, the modern world, the natural world, the ancient world. I choose one of the seven wonder of the natural world the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis in the north and Aurora Australis in the south. I learned that the Northern Lights are In the south I only knew that they were in the north.

Term 1 Week 3

This week I finished my visual language task In this task we had a A3 sized piece of card and on it we had to describe our past present and future with photos and words printed of the computer or cut out of  a magazine. on the back we had to write a piece that said why we put certain photos on.

This week I found out that I have been selected to participate in the tough guy and gal challenge this challenge is a mud run where you go through an obstacle course  climbing under and over things even through a stream of thick mud.

On Friday we started french we mainly revised on things we learnt last year and most of us had forgotten many things. We also talked about the opportunity of going to New Caledonia. I am thinking of going on this trip to help with my french skills and to go somewhere I have not been.

Term 1 Week 1 and 2

 In week one we started on Thursday on the first day we had a school Porphiri to welcome the year sevens to our school. Monday week to was a public holiday so I was in Napier with friends and family.  We had our first sessions of tech arts in tech we designed what we want our jerseys to look like and we also learnt what different materials were made out of for example  the main ingredient in polar fleece is plastic bottles. This week in class we did two writing tasks the first one was our letter the year sevens had to write a letter about themselves and the year eights had to write about why they would want to be a house captain or class Councillor I wrote about house captain.
